About the Role

As a Wound Care Nursing Consultant, you’ll be integral in promoting quality outcomes, ensuring compliance, and providing expert wound care support in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Federal and state regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audits of facility systems to evaluate survey readiness, Medicare compliance, and quality of care.
  • Conduct thorough wound and skin assessments, developing personalized care plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Regularly review Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR)Point of Care (POC), and Point Click Care (PCC) systems for adherence to standards.
  • Monitor wound care programs to assess their effectiveness and appropriateness.
  • Implement and facilitate company policies and procedures related to patient care and employee practices.
  • Provide mentorship and problem-solving support for administrative staff.
  • Address complaints and resolve issues in a timely, professional manner.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments on residents, ensuring optimal documentation and care planning.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound care practices to promote healing and prevent complications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • This post requires 100% travel, where 50–60% of the time requires flying out to multiple different states.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a Wound Care Nurse Consultant, you will play a critical role in delivering outstanding patient care and providing education that improves outcomes for individuals with complex wound care needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct thorough wound and skin assessments, developing personalized care plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound care practices to promote healing and prevent complications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Travel 50–60% of the time, supporting facilities in multiple states.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a skilled and compassionate wound care professional with the following qualifications:

  • Current LVN, RN, WCC, or WOCN license (based in California).
  • 2 years of SNF experience (required).
  • Proven wound care experience; prior consulting experience is a plus.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurance (required).
  • Demonstrated experience with EMARPOC, and PCC systems.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare compliance, survey readiness, and regulatory standards.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across California, Colorado, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri, and other states as needed.
  • A passion for patient education, teamwork, and delivering evidence-based care.
  • Proven ability to mentor and support healthcare teams effectively.
